Al Betz is the creator of the Outfluence® soft skills concept and a co-founder of Outfluence®, LLC. Al is an inspirational speaker and a motivator, and he loves to speak on topics including Inspired Performance and Constant Messaging™. He has also been a professional court reporter and entrepreneur for 42 years. Al has written three books and co-developed numerous Outfluence™ training programs. He  is a grandfather of two, and lives in New Windsor, Maryland with his wife Kay, who is a co-founder of Outfluence®. Their son Matthew is also a co-founder of Outfluence®, LLC.

Matthew Betz is a co-founder of Outfluence, LLC and a Vice-President of the company and is responsible for the company’s daily administrative operations. Leveraging nearly two decades of distinguished service as an officer and as an academy instructor, Matt has put his degree in Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement to work both in the professional security field and in law enforcement. Decision-making skills, commitment to task, and his leadership experience on various law enforcement teams allows  him to effectively manage the demands of the fast-paced corporate world.  He remains very active in the law enforcement profession today, when he isn't at home spending time with his wife and daughters.


An educator, entrepreneur and business consultant, Kay Betz approaches life and business with enthusiasm. She is a principal in and the Chief Financial Officer of Al Betz & Associates, Inc., a nationally recognized litigation support services company. Kay is a co-founder of Outfluence®, LLC, a publishing and teaching organization focused on communication and performance in business and personal relationships.

Kay is also a consultant to nonprofit organizations, and she teaches management to McDaniel College graduate students entering the human services profession. In the Fall of 2011, she was offered and accepted a position on the Board of Trustees of Carroll Lutheran Village, the third largest employer in Carroll County, Maryland. Kay earned her undergraduate degree in economics from Towson University and a Masters of Business Administration from Mt. St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Kay enjoys speaking on topics ranging from Encore Selling to Business Management, Constant Messaging™, Communication Basics and Planning your Career.


Internationally acclaimed jazz pianist/vocalist, Eric Byrd has been playing professionally and composing music for over 20 years. Considered the “Jazz Ambassador of the United States Department of State,” Eric is also an educator and an entrepreneur. The fundamental elements of his performance style integrate the principles of swing and be-bop, rousing gospel-tinged chords and trilling blues. Byrd has performed with Wynton Marsalis, Ethel Ennis, and Charlie Byrd, just to name a few. Along with his own recordings, he has guested on over a dozen CDs by others. He is currently a half-time Music Lecturer at McDaniel College, where he completed his undergraduate degree. He received his Masters in Music degree in 2001 from Morgan State.

Eric joins Kay Betz in presenting a lively, informative, entertaining and inspirational workshop on the topic of Encore Selling. Eric is also known worldwide as an inspiring and motivating force to audiences of young professionals as well as to student groups.

"Detour" Dave Sandler has worked at WBAL NewsRadio 1090 since 1987. He is the owner of two businesses, including an entertainment company called Traffic Jams, and an aerial photography operation which specializes in commercial real-estate. After surviving a near brush with death, Dave has worked closely with the Outfluence Team to create a new, exclusive program called Compete for Life, in which we hail the art of survival. He is also a professional speaker, capable of inspiring the next generation of professionals with his ideas about competition, winning, and business.

Dylene Cymraes, Vice President, Director of Program Development, is a facilitator and trainer who has worked with student populations in Baltimore City and various counties in Maryland. She co-created programs and evaluations with Maryland DHMH oversight, dealing with tobacco use cessation and prevention. She also created and delivered student programs in Baltimore County in the art of dialogue and the exploration of family heritage. She is very active in military family support structures, which began doing when she was an Army spouse. She has worked with Outfluence® since its inception, creating training concepts and supporting development as a writer, editor, trainer and facilitator.


Taylor Lee, representing the third Outfluence® generation, conducts our marketing department. She works closely with friends and clients both face to face, and behind the screen, to ensure their Outfluence® experience is first class. Taylor has experience in graphic and web design, social networking, marketing trends, education, and writing. She has published works in numerous titles, and lives in Charm City with her kitten, Charlie.
